[As soon as she's able and things calm down, Ellie comes by to knock on the door.
It disturbs her that Jamie has to think about shit like this. She never wanted to worry anybody, especially such a sweet little kid, but he's one of those people indirectly in danger because of the whole situation. She looks a little troubled and withdrawn, kinda tired, but mostly the same.]
[Ellie was the only one he was expecting to show up so he was waiting for her knock. Which means he hustles down the stairs to open the door for her. He gives her a small smile. Things are...better but not perfect.]
Come on in.
[Jamie will save the hug until she's safely on the other side of the locked door.]
[Ellie flips the lock for him, but the hug surprises her a little. She's still getting used to actually being touched, accepting affection.
She wraps her arms awkwardly around him at first, then more closely, warm, resting a hand awkwardly on his hair like Joel does to her. It's softer than it looks.]
I have something of the utmost importance to tell you just as the sun is setting tomorrow, so please meet me at the ice rink!
Your absence would not only upset me, but would cause the most horrid of consequences to occur! Don't respond, just come, and it must be just as the sun is setting.
[It was a bit difficult to get a moment of free time and make sure Jamie was just as unoccupied. Christmas spirit and Yule cheer had apparently gotten to near everyone in Asgard, even the gods. Alice loved it. She was smiling and laughing and enjoying herself and spending time with others. But she had a very important gift she had to deliver. Just as Jamie had been keeping Father Christmas a secret from her, she had been keeping her own secret from him. Specifically, his gift. She hadn't told a soul about it... which now that she thought about it, might have been a bit reckless considering what it was. All the same, she had a feeling the guardians wouldn't mind... too much.
So she was waiting at the ice rink when she knew Jamie would be coming back... well, she knew because she had sent him a message insisting upon his promptness. She glanced over to the far wall where she had hidden his gift, waiting for Jamie to show up, glancing outside the windows to see the sun was just on the verge of setting.
[The Guardians had one exciting and exhausting night (not even counting how fast North drove the sleigh at times). When the deliveries were finished and dawn was finally starting to break free, the tired heroes returned back to their apartment.
Time to get some rest and head to bed, right? Not quite. On top of the bed is something that was definitely not there before. A large box dressed in a patchwork style of wrapping paper with each section depicting another one of the Guardians and tied with a light blue ribbon. The label is a tiny red card with "To Jamie Bennett" at its center. In a corner of the card, the only other message is a single arrow pointed straight up.
Once the present is opened, several things lay inside. Unlike his fellow Guardians, Jamie is a child so it is more than one. In one half of the gift was a fairy medium size figurine (about as tall as his stuffed rabbit). It was a Yeti and North seemed to have made every attempt to recreate it as accurately as possible. The hair covering its body feels genuine even if it is synthetic. The body is soft but firm enough to grab and show the Yetis' strength.
The other half is a handmade book. The binding is hard and the cover has a decorative carving of the his workshop in the North Pole. A drawing of North shaking a Yeti's hand (similar to this icon) is at the bottom of the cover. Each Page is carefully placed with words at the top and pictures at the bottom. It's a story about North gaining the friendship and help of the Yetis and their attempts to bring the North Pole to life (along with a few of their screw ups. North was a little too eager with the path for the sleigh at times).
North had not entered the room when everyone started heading upstairs. Of course, now his late arrival to the sleigh suddenly made a lot more sense.
[As exhausted as he was there was always enough energy to open a present. By the time North does arrive to the room, Jamie will have already opened it. Of course, he will have also fallen asleep too. Though the remains of the box and wrapping paper lay next to his bed, its contents are firmly locked in his arms. There also seems to be a torn section of wrapping paper sticking up out of the pages of the book. He made sure that he got every single one of those different patchwork squares to save.]
[Many people gave Jack presents, and now he feels bad. He thought that helping North with his job got that covered... but nope. It looks like it's his turn to go shopping.
A couple of days after the festival, Jamie will find a package on his bed. In it, there's a very peculiar pair of slippers. There's also a card written with terrible handwriting that says "Merry Christmas", signed by... a snowflake.]
[A bracelet for a bracelet. This leather and gold bracelet will appear on Jamie's pillow while he's out, along with a note written in a flowing hand: ]
Thank you for your gift.
[Backdated to morning of 390 before everyone came back | Action] Sorry for the sudden angst
He's discovered Jade, the first person he allowed close to him and opened up to, is gone and that got him thinking. A lot. And a thinking Jack isn't a good Jack. Leaving people and he staying behind? It hits too close to home. He'll continue living and the humans around him he loves will leave one by one.
Yes, Jack wants to brood. A lot.
But first, he can't help passing by Jamie's room and checking on him. His first believer, his most important kid. He doesn't know what he'll do when the same happens to him, when the child grows up. Ugh. He sits on the floor next to the bed, lost in thought while he watches Jamie sleep. He shouldn't be here, in war, but him leaving wouldn't be good for Jack either.
Turns out he's more tired than he thought (the emotional ride probably), because when Jamie wakes up, he'll find Jack still sitting next to his bed, head resting on it and snoozing away.]
[He's slow to wake. Especially lately since everyone's gone off to fight the giants and that even includes his teachers at school. So basically it's like a winter holiday and Jamie does take advantage of it by sleeping in later than usual.
That's why when he opens his eyes and sees Jack's white hair resting on his blankets, Jamie just watches the Guardian sleep for a moment. Really, this is rare. Being the kid in the apartment Jamie is usually the one that's asleep first. Staying up late is hard. He doesn't get to see most of the Guardians sleeping, except for Sandy. Guess it was part of the whole spirit thing they had going on before coming here. So seeing Jack asleep is a rare thing.
After a good five minutes of just watching he finally sits up, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes while yawning loudly. He leans over to put his face down by Jack's.]
Jack. [It's a whisper. Jamie doesn't want to wake the Guardian if he's deep asleep.]
[After North's run around with Pitch and making sure he's not followed back to the apartment (while thinking a few choice words in Russian), North could not have taken the bracelet out any faster. Whether Pitch was in full power or not, North highly doubted the antagonism between the two parties would simply fade because they were now in Asgard. And it was A LOT easier to track down each other without their original abilities and possessions.
North was honestly worried. The Guardians had befriended children here and it was already difficult in the first place to protect them without adding something else. What God had thought this was in any way a good idea?!
So North sends out the message. It may be the middle of the night, they may live in the same place and some may already be asleep but North is too concerned to think of that right now. He needs to summon the Guardians and Jamie.]
The boogeyman is here. Pitch Black. In Asgard!
[Pause before his voice turns more stern.] We need to talk.
[Jamie's groggy when he answers this, all tucked into bed and told a story already but North's voice, his words are enough to get him awake enough to answer.]
[In honor of the Earth holiday centering on love, Freya sends out a little gift around this time.
A small box containing a piece of chocolate will appear on your pillow during the day. When consumed, the chocolate’s magic will lift your mood for a short period of time. It’s accompanied by a note.]
Where love might bring about sorrow, it also welcomes joy.
[After eating a chocolate left by a certain someone, Hibiki is left in a bright mood. Maybe she should check on everyone? Just, you know. See how they're doing.]
Jamie-kun! We haven't talked in a while, so I thought I'd say hello!
[ In honour of the god centering on love being a giant frilly prissypants, Loki sends his own little gift just a few hours after hers.
His box of chocolate will look, smell, and taste exactly like Freya's did, appearing right next to where Freya's was or is if you haven't picked it up yet. The only difference between the two is that Loki's won't lift your mood; it'll give you loud and embarrassing flatulence for the next three hours.
It's also accompanied by a note. ]
Where joy might bring about yearning, it also welcomes wonder.
[Jamie, don't go gray for just short of a month. It's a horrible time.
Sandy comes back home after Jamie's bedtime. He still peeks into his room to see if the boy is asleep. Whether he is or isn't, he'll probably give him a kiss goodnight.]
